Burnaby Shotokan Instructors
Eric Crosby - Sandan (third degree black belt) - Leads the adult and kids classes at the Burnaby dojo. Eric started practice with Canada Shotokan in November, 1991. Eric has travelled to Japan, Spain, Washington State, and practices with Mr. Ohshima several times a year in Santa Barbara to further his training. Eric was a member of the 5-man Canada West team that won the 38th Annual Nisei Week Tournament in Los Angeles in 1995. Eric was also the coach of the Canadian women's team that placed 3rd at the Canada Shotokan 25th Anniversary tournament in Vancouver, August, 1997. Eric placed 3rd in the Unity 2006 tournament in Pasedena in 2006.
Liny Chan - Sandan (third degree black belt) - Leads the adult and kids classes at the Burnaby dojo. Liny started practice with Canada Shotokan in September, 1992. Liny has travelled to Japan, France, Spain, Israel, Washington State, and practices several times a year with Mr. Ohshima in Santa Barbara to further her karate training. She has participated in several tournaments, and was a member of the international women's team at the Canada Shotokan 25th Anniversary tournament in August 1997. Liny has placed 1st in the women's division in the annual Goodwill Cup Tournament/Exchange practice with the University of Washington several times. She won the best competitor award at the annual Nisei Week Exhibition/Tournament in Los Angeles in 2001. Liny was asked by Ohshima Sensei to demonstrate torite at the 2004 Nisei Week Tournament and Exhibition and at the Unity 2006 celebration.
